Main Street Program

HACE’s Main Street Program proudly serves the Fairhill and St. Hugh neighborhoods of Eastern North Philadelphia by supporting the small businesses that are located in El Cento de Oro commercial corridor as well as the Front& Allegheny corridor. The Main Street Program’s goals are to create economic opportunities and neighborhood revitalization that will make our neighborhoods safer, cleaner, more attractive, and vibrant.

The Main Street team consists of a Business District Manager, Assistant Business District Manager, and two cleaning crew members. All staff members are bilingual in order to make our services accessible to everyone in the community, which primarily consists of Spanish-speaking residents and business owners.

Services provided by the Main Street Program include:

• The provision of community resources, including recycling bins, at the Business & Visitors Center
• Addressing safety and sanitation issues in our corridors and the surrounding areas
• Streetscape improvements in the corridors
• Technical support to existing and new businesses
• Promotion of Philadelphia Department of Commerce programs for small businesses and assistance with applications for those programs
• Promotion of the corridors to increase visitation and visibility of the businesses in the community in order to bolster economic development
• Planning and executing events to increase foot traffic in the corridors, attract new visitors, and engage the community
• Work to fill vacancies in the corridors
• Encouraging collaboration among business owners through workshops, networking socials, and business association meetings
